Overview

Requests are formal submissions or applications made by users to initiate a particular process or action within a workflow system. In workflow management, requests are typically the starting point for various tasks and processes that need approval, execution, or further action.

The requests ideally ensure that the workflows start with complete and accurate information, facilitating smooth and consistent operations.

With an automated workflow for procurement requests, the flow begins with an initiation point that, for example, has a request for purchasing a new set of software licenses.

For more contextual touchpoints, the requests are followed by a structured information collection through forms. This can include the software purchase details in custom fields, such as the product's name, quantity or type of units, budget, and description, as required to justify the purchase.

Next, the flow goes on to an approval process from stakeholders such as manager, department head, finance team, executive leadership, etc. While in progress, the status of the request can be tracked with statuses, progress of the request, and the outcomes.
